SUMMARY:Stop Super Speeders Hackathon
DESCRIPTION:DSSG-NYC\, BetaNYC\, Transportation-Alt in collaboration with Families for Safe Streets proudly present the Stop Super Speeders Hackathon: \n\n\n\nOutcome\n\n\n\n Prototype a dashboard that reads\, manages and alerts about super speeders throughout NY state \n\n\n\nWe’re building a system that tracks and alerts on traffic violations to promote traffic legislation. We’ll use public APls and data to create a system for the installation of Intelligent Speed Assistance devices: \n\n\n\n\nSpeed violations data management backend\n\n\n\nDashboard for tracking the speed violations\n\n\n\nSystem of alerts throughout different stages of the process\n\n\n\n\nWho We Need\n\n\n\n\nCivic technologists: DS\, Al & Data engineers\, IT specialists\, Policy Analyst\n\n\n\nSafety/transportation advocates \n\n\n\nPolicy & lawyers: data ethicists\n\n\n\n\nWhy Transportation Safety?\n\n\n\nEvery day\, 120 people are killed on US roadways\, and over 14\,000 suffer life-altering injuries. Every crash destroys families\, and tears at the fabric of our communities. Crashes are preventable. These are not “accidents” — and the problems that cause them have proven solutions. No death or life-altering injury in a traffic crash is acceptable.
