On Friday, May 2, the Open Data Week and Data Through Design teams hosted Open the Data Week 2025 Spring Meetup at Route 66 Smokehouse in the Financial District.
Conversations, Connections, and Community
Upstairs in the Game Room, event organizers, speakers, Data Through Design artists, volunteers, and participants gathered to celebrate a packed week of learning, connecting, and exploring the power of public data.

After more than 100 Open Data Week events across five boroughs—from hands-on workshops to creative exhibits and conversations on equity, climate, and public interest tech—the Spring Meetup offered a moment to relax and reflect. Folks shared favorite memories from the week, connected with collaborators old and new, and toasted to the community that makes this work possible.
It was casual, joyful, and full of jubilant energy—just the right way to wrap a week that showcased what’s possible when we come together to build a more open and informed city.
