🎃 Recap: Fall 2025 Open Data Week Meetup 🍂

On October 16, the open data and public interest tech communities came together for the Fall edition of the quarterly Open Data Week Meetup at Sound + Fury Brewery & Kitchen in Downtown Brooklyn. The space was transformed for spooky season, complete with a ten-foot skeleton towering over the crowd.

Co-hosted with our friends at Data Through Design (DxD), the evening brought together open data organizers, artists, civic technologists, and community members to connect, swap ideas, and gear up for Open Data Week 2026. The mix of longtime collaborators and new faces reminded us how vibrant and creative NYC’s open data ecosystem is.

A Decade of Open Data Week 🎉

2026 marks a major milestone: ten years of Open Data Week!!!

The excitement was palpable as attendees shared early ideas for sessions, workshops, and exhibits to make next year the most interactive yet. With the Open Data Week and School of Data call for Proposals officially open, participants chatted with the organizing team about ways to design events that are fun, hands-on, and accessible.
