This week in NYC’s #CivicTech – March 26, 2026

Happy 10th birthday, NYC Open Data Week!!! We’re over the moon to be commemorating this special moment with you. Open Data Week wouldn’t be possible without our amazing festival partners, the Open Data team at the NYC Office of Technology and Innovation, and Data Through Design. Thank you for your support!

Open Data Week is underway, and we’ve been thrilled to see you join sessions, ask questions, share resources, or just make space to be part of this vibrant community. You’re what brings this festival to life, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you throughout the rest of the week! Events are still ongoing, so be sure to explore the program and sign up for events.

School of Data is This Weekend!!!

This Sunday, March 29, marks the close of Open Data Week, and another huge milestone: 10 years of School of Data. We’re so thankful to be celebrating this moment with you, our amazing community.

There are only two days to go until School of Data; tickets are nearly sold out! For the first time, we’re spreading the fun across two days, with our classic conference this Saturday, March 28, followed by our inaugural UnSchool of Data unconference on Sunday, March 29. It’s going to be a fun-filled weekend—you don’t want to miss out!

While you’re planning your weekend, our friends at Data Through Design are keeping the energy going with their echo{logies} exhibition, including an Artists Panel this Sunday afternoon, March 29. The exhibition stays open through April 5, so the creativity and conversation don’t stop when the festival ends!

Catch up on our interview with OTI’s Aryanna Holder!

In case you missed it, this month’s Public Interest Technologist of the Month is Aryanna Holder from the NYC Office of Technology and Innovation’s Open Data Team. Her reflections capture exactly why Open Data Week matters, and how care, collaboration, and partnership shape everything we do. If you haven’t had a chance to read it, take a moment to check it out!

Thank You to Our Partners!

We also want to give a huge shoutout to the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation and all our sponsoring partners: Reinvent Albany, Nava, SVA Masters in Data Visualization and Communication, HaydenAI, CUSP at NYU, Cyvl, Siegel Family Endowment, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, SignNexus, and the NYC Council. Thank you for making our milestone year possible!

We can’t wait to see you at School of Data this weekend, and in the final days of Open Data Week, as we celebrate this special 10-year milestone together.

Here’s to another 10 years of open data fun! Cheers!
