Hello friends,
What a week!! Open Data Week, School of Data, and UnSchool of Data have officially wrapped, and we’re still buzzing with gratitude.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their knowledge, asked questions, facilitated sessions, volunteered, supported, sponsored, and celebrated with us! You are what makes this all possible, and this tenth year felt especially powerful because of you.
Help us create a zine!!
If you shared your experience on social media, please share the link with us. If you have any memorable quotes you’d like us to include in our scrapbook of note, please send it our way. We love your insights and reflections!!
We’re creating a 10th anniversary zine and would love to include your personal reflections!! If you snapped any photos or posted on social media, we’d love to see them. Tag us or reply to this email so we can celebrate together!
This year’s data points and photos!
As for this year’s historic year, we welcomed 685 attendees to School of Data and 204 participants to our inaugural UnSchool of Data! It was lovely seeing so many of you and a beautiful reminder of why we do the work we do.
Take a look and relive some of your favorite moments with us!

Relive the mainstage panels!
Still thinking about a moment from the School of Data mainstage? Or wishing you could rewatch a favorite session? We’ve got you covered.
The School of Data 2026 mainstage recordings are now live on YouTube:
- Opening Session
- From Connectivity to Connection, Transforming Digital Equity Into Action
- Building the Public Interest Tech Workforce
- AI in Government: Opportunities for the Mamdani Administration
- How has 10 years of civic engagement through open data changed New York?
Join us moving forward!
We’ll be out on Staten Island on Friday, April 10, mapping Mahoney Playground in St. George! Mahoney Playground is slated for partial reconstruction—help us map its current resources to ensure the redesign meets community needs.
The festival may be over, but our community is still here. Stay in touch through our links page and in our Slack community, where the conversations and collaborations carry on year-round.
Thank you for being part of this milestone year! We’re so proud of what we built together, and we’re already looking forward to what comes next.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Noel Hidalgo, Gabrielle Langston, and the BetaNYC team
