BetaNYC is a public-interest tech nonprofit that believes in democracy. Our work helped pioneer NYC’s Open Data Law and shaped the civic tech community we cherish today. Since 2008, we’ve trained over 10,000 New Yorkers in open data and mentored 91 Civic Innovation Fellows—empowering communities with the tools to engage with government and advocate for change. Annually, over 5,000 attend NYC’s Open Data Festival, which we co-produce with the City’s Open Data Team.

BetaNYC is committed to strengthening New York City’s public interest technology ecosystem, supporting individuals as they grow into leaders, and empowering communities through data and technology.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 by the end of the year. Your support makes a tangible difference: a donation of $750 trains 10 new Open Data Ambassadors, while $5,000 funds professional development for our staff, many of whom are fellowship alumni now stepping into leadership roles. With each $20,000 raised, we can train and pay a new apprentice, providing them hands-on experience and empowering them to serve NYC communities through public interest technology.
