Mapping for Equity Field Mapping Workshop with DIVAS for Social Justice

September 20 @ 10:00 AM 12:00 PM EDT

BetaNYC is excited to partner with DIVAS for Social Justice to bring you a hands-on Mapping for Equity Field Workshop!

Through this activity, we are working to ensure equal representation in data while quantifying and mapping our shared public realm. We’ll begin at the DIVAS Makerspace with introductions to our organizations and why equitable mapping matters. Then we’ll head to Jackie Robinson Park Playground to site and map community assets like benches, lamps, and water fountains into OpenStreetMap. We’ll return to the Makerspace to debrief, reflect, and share how you can stay involved in future workshops.

This event will be delivered in English and all ages are welcome to attend (provided that anyone under 18 years old is present with a parent or guardian). We will be moving about the city and on uneven terrain. Plan on wearing appropriate footwear and environmental attire.

If you have any needs or accommodations, please email events@beta.nyc and diva4justice@gmail.com.

Please RSVP by 10:00 AM on Friday, September 19
