About
NYC School of Data is an annual community-driven conference held in March that brings together New Yorkers around open data, civic technology, and service design. Since 2010, BetaNYC has organized an annual community conference. Sometimes it has been an “unconference” or a community hackathon, and at other times, a one-day program of 30 conference sessions. Over the years, we have held space for NYC’s technology, government, and civic sectors to intersect.
At NYC School of Data, we see data as the cornerstone of the digital century. We cannot talk about society, government, or technology without discussing the ramifications of how data is used to manage, maintain, surveil, or legislate. NYC School of Data empowers attendees to improve their lives and neighborhoods through workshops, panels, demos, and networking.
This year will mark our TENTH School of Data conference. To celebrate a decade of community, we’re doubling the fun! This year, School of Data will be a two-day event: our classic conference, NYC School of Data, on March 28, 2026, and our unconference, UnSchool of Data, on March 29, 2026.
